Our Growing Need

Utah's population is growing in nearly every part of the state. Southern Utah County and eastern Juab County are no exception. As the population grows, so does the demand for various types of water use.

The goal of the project is to provide reliable and sustainable delivery of water for agricultural, municipal, and industrial use.

This collaborative effort involves multiple stakeholders, including federal agencies, state departments, local municipalities, and community organizations to ensure a comprehensive approach to water resource management.

  • Improve Public Safety

Enclosing the open channel Strawberry High Line Canal in a pipeline will help reduce the risk of flooding and other safety concerns caused by aging infrastructure — improving public safety for nearby neighborhoods.
  • Maximize Efficiency

By enclosing the Strawberry High Line Canal, we can prevent water loss from seepage and evaporation — making the most of our limited water supply through smarter, more sustainable use across the region.
  • Improve Water Quality

Pressurizing and enclosing the canal leads to cleaner water and more efficient operations — enhancing water quality while reducing maintenance needs and service interruptions.
  • Modernize Water System

Provide a more efficient and adaptable water delivery system that supports current agricultural use and can transition to meet future residential, agricultural, and community needs in southern Utah County and eastern Juab County.

Project Process

To address increasing water demands and public safety in south Utah County and east Juab County, the Nebo Regional Water Project is focused on making improvements to aging infrastructure, adding efficiencies to the water system, and modernizing the water system. An environmental process following the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is currently underway to evaluate the proposed improvements and determine any impacts.
